History
Anderson's
has operated in Wanganui for over 30 years. We purchased Anderson's 10 years
ago when it was situated at 50 Victoria Avenue on the corner of Ridgway street. The initial store we purchased was a large menswear
shop with small ladies and school wear departments. After five years
of ownership we had grown the Uniform and Women's wear departments to the point where we had to open our second store, resulting in moving the Women's wear into their new location at 92
Victoria Avenue. We named this store "NOIRE" and it has grown
well since we relocated it. In 2018 we were forced to move out of 50
Victoria ave due to maintenance and safety issues with the site. The building had a very
dangerous veranda , combined with moisture and maintenance problems forcing us to
move the Men's and Uniforms operations to separate stores. The
Uniforms business was moved to it's own dedicated location at 184 Victoria
Ave. The Men's wear business was moved to 65 Victoria Ave. Our two
new stores have been trading at their new respective locations for over 2 years
now and have consolidated and grown their operations well. We opened
our 4th shop, "The Sewing Center" in November
2019, specializing in sewing alterations, haberdashery, Janome sewing
machines and 2nd hand school uniforms. This shops is showing promising
signs and is still a work in process.
The addition of the 4th shop resulted in us launching the "Anderson's
Group" covering our 4 store operation.
